My work is about exploring the interrelationship between colour and form, and the emotional response of the viewer to the impressions received.  In my mind there is a resonance between my paintings and music, one evoking the other.  I can see my work as musical compositions as much as visual.

The forms and colours are ultimately derived from the natural world, from landscapes, figures, shades of light and darkness, but all abstracted into a single composition.

I established and developed the Douglas Watson Studio in 1982, producing  hand made ceramic tiles, while continuing my interest in abstract  painting.
