My work is about exploring the interrelationship between colour and form, and the emotional response of the viewer to the impressions received.  I am interested in finding unity in fragmentation, reflected in multilayering and the interrelationships that result. In my mind there is a resonance between my paintings and music, one evoking the other.  I can see my work as musical compositions as much as visual.

while continuing my interest in abstract  painting,  I established and developed the Douglas Watson Studio in 1982, producing  hand made ceramic tiles, a business which is still flourishing.
